A romantic engagement at Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk– and a beautiful photo shoot to follow. These photos, captured by Joshua Harrison Photography, shine in their pure joy and stunning Chicago landscape.

Katie and Scott first met in 11th grade, during a shared chemistry class, and have remained close ever since. While the pandemic initially disrupted Scott’s plan to propose, he ended up settling on a proposal on Lincoln Park.

Setting up a checkered picnic beside the beloved Honeycomb sculptures, the couple drank champagne and shared snacks–all with their pomeranian. Hoping to capture the same joy of their engagement, they opted to recreate the moment, both in the park’s abundant fields and on the boardwalk overlooking the city.

A yellow label on the bottle of champagne matched the sprigs of butter scotch yellow flowers.

The couple’s attire was dressy casual and featured neutral to warm hues that embraced the sunshine and optimistic tone of the day. In one look, Scott wore a gray fitted long sleeve shirt with slim navy dress pants and dress shoes; Katie wore strapped sandals, a fitted white shirt, and caramel colored pants.

For the second look, Katie changed into a copper orange dress with a classic v neckline. Scott opted for a relaxed fit tan dress shirt and dress pants. The looks, together, were at once natural casual and brimming with cheer.
