For some couples, the wedding day is a way to celebrate in excellent style and go all out in terms of decor and glamour. Others enthuse about signature cocktails, DJ’s or live bands to keep guests dancing all night, or even several course meals with service.

And while there is nothing wrong with including some elements like that, for Richard and Bella, that was never the focus. For their April nuptials, Richard and Bella wanted the focus to be on honoring traditions, culture, and family. Bella’s family made a grueling 20 hour flight from Indonesia, where is originally from, and both Richard and Bella wanted to do everything they could to make the day feel special and personal.

The day began with traditional tea at the couple’s home in Pomona, with Indonesian curried meat, vegetables and rice. It was a way for the families to reconnect and relax before the day began.

The ceremony was held at the Catholic Holy Family Church, where Richard and Bella regularly attend. Ashtray Photography did a wonderful job capturing the newlyweds in front of the church, and the groom looked sophisticated in a classic black tuxedo, while Bride Bella was simply beautiful in a A-line gown featuring three quarter length illusion lace sleeves, soft V-neck, and delicate trim along the hemline.

The reception, which took place in the Anaheim District, featured bistro lights, urban tables, and gorgeous white and green floral arrangements. The cuisine was both reflective of Bella’s Indonesian heritage and Southern California. Toasts were made to honor family to end the day on a sweet note.
