Day of the Dead is an unlikely theme for a wedding, but this innovative style shoot by Wild Love Grows manages to pull it off with elegance. Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is traditionally a day meant to commemorate loved ones who have passed on, but also has some fun pop culture elements, with bright colors and florals to celebrate life.

The shoot was inspired by brides and grooms who are unafraid of showing off their personality and adding unique elements, such as bold colors, unexpected centerpieces, and bold style choices. Meant to be representative of an autumnal wedding, the shoot includes stringed instruments, a bonfire, barnyard, and green fields.

Velvet tan chairs and dark furnishings with cranberry red candles makes for a bold and unforgettable touch that really tes the theme of Day of the Dead into this entire styled shoot. Crimson flowers are both beautiful and startling among the otherwise rather dark room. A three tiered cake features bronze and black ombre, with Day of the Dead skulls in place of the expected couple cake topper.

The bride and groom’s looks are a bit shocking at first, but perfectly fit the theme of Day of the Dead. Dressed head to toe in black, the colorful masks add the bright and fun element needed, and the half mask is also accompanied by a passionate pink garland in the bride’s hair.

Her floor length gown features a deep v-neck, semi sheer long sleeves, and a soft tulle A-line skirt. And like all things unexpected in this shoot, this isn’t her only look: for a brighter and more bridal vibe, she later changes into a fitted lace ivory gown, complete with dramatic bell sleeves.
