Little about Helen and Tom’s story would be considered conventional. The two met in August 2006, after heavy rain forced Helen to quit a tennis match early. Their first date was equally unique: a beach bash in Seabright, NJ.
For the next almost decade, the couple experienced almost everything together, from skying the Rocky Mountains, to braving the Dolomites in Italy, to even building a tiki bar. In their travels to Florence, Milan and Paris, it became clear there was nothing that Helen and Tom didn’t want to experience together.
Including the rest of their lives.
On exactly the tenth anniversary of their first date, the couple were married–where else–but at a beach, with gorgeous blue skies for a simple but elegant ceremony. Helen’s eye for personalized and DYI detail was on display at the ceremony, with pearl white and turquoise steamers gracing a natural wedding arch, with draping arrangements of matching hues.
The groom and bride’s attire matched the simplicity and beauty of the sandy beach. Tom wore and a suit jacket; Helen evoked natural beauty in a drop waist strapless ivory fit and flare gown, with slimming ruching across the bodice and a sweep train.
Signature blue cocktails, fanned napkin, and seashell decor adorned the vibrant reception space. The three tiered, tie-dyed cake pulled together the entire theme in a playful way, with starfish and anchor designs. Guests commemorated the day with colorful mini umbrellas for their drinks.
