Classic romance, for most, is a vision of soft colors, rose petals, and a couple madly in love. But as culture and gender roles have evolved, more and more couples are questioning if the idea of classic romance can still exist in a contemporary world.
The concept of this clever photoshoot by Kayla Illies Photography: modern romance, where classic and contemporary merge. Soft blush rose petals and low candlelight create a classically romantic ambiance, while warm copper adds modernity to dishware, place settings, and a three tiered fondant cake.
Warm red brick walls complement the rustic wooden dining table and brown kraft toned menus. Small tea lights are nestled against glittering gold foiled champagne bottles. Pale pink and magenta gilded roses lie among strands of greenery for a beauty-and-the-beast meets modern romance.
White flowers create an organic and classic feel to the bride’s hair, while the messy updo, with soft, loose bangs add just the right touch of contemporary. Perhaps the best argument for modern romance is the bride’s gown. A snowfall white, structured ballgown has a classic fairytale vibe, complemented by soft floral stitching across the bodice. A scalloped v-neck gives the gown and the bride a more updated look, as does a bronze wrist bangle.
