1. Did you know that Queen Victoria’s white wedding dress began the trend of white bridal gowns? She married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on February 10, 1840, during the Victorian era where red was considered the popular color for wedding gowns. Queen Victoria, determined to have a lacy white gown, ignored the red gown trend, and set the new tradition that would continue on to the 21st Century, and will most likely continue for decades to come.


  1. On June 10, 2015, Karam Chand and Kartari Chand reached their 90th year of marriage, having married on December 11, 1925. They’re considered the world’s oldest married couple, and their combined age that year was 211 years.


  1. Ancient Greeks believed that the wedding ring should be placed on the third finger, because it supposedly had a vein that ran directly to the heart. Others later believed it was actually the fourth finger, which is why they called it, “vena amoris.” Because of this belief, today it is normal for brides to wear their wedding ring on the fourth finger.
