Bridal Registry 101

At Diamond Bridal Gallery, we understand that one of the best things to come out of modern society is the bridal registry. With this simple innovation, a newly-wedded couple can say goodbye to duplicate gifts and decor items that clash with their living room sofa. A bridal registry is, in many aspects, a wish list. It provides wedding guests and well-wishers a list of “recommended” gifts that have been pre-selected by the celebrants themselves. Although we still refer to this wish list as a “bridal” registry, it’s already become more common during our times for the groom to also be involved in selecting items that are to be included in the bridal registry.

Where to Register

Practically all department stores and specialty boutiques offer bridal registry services. It’s usually wise to have a bridal registry in two different stores rather than just one, so as to make gift-buying more convenient for your wedding guests. Make sure to have one bridal registry completed in a national chain store so that your guests can easily pick out items from the branch nearest them. And of course, you should select a store that carries a broad number of items that you like, or that you may need such as linens, dinner china, and decorative home items. Must-have Items

This brings us to another common question – What items should you include in your bridal registry? Well, there’s no hard and fast rule as to what items can be included and what cannot be included. But a good rule of thumb is to stick to items that are associated with married life and family life. It would definitely be considered tacky if you list personal and unrelated items such as jewelry, clothes, shoes, and personal gadgets in your bridal registry. Household items such as silverware, kitchen appliances, linens and cutlery are some of the staple items for a traditional bridal registry. These are all items that you will need to get started with your married life.

Price Range

Be careful about limiting your list to high-priced items. Make sure to select a wide range of gifts covering a broad price range, so that your guests will have an easier time finding an item that fits perfectly with their budget. To be on the safe side, the price range of your gifts should range from $50 to $300, with one or two items beyond $300 added in.
